Vendor Policy

To ensure that the Austin Association of Facility and Maintenance Engineers (AAFAME) is able to maintain its viability as an association dedicated to "promoting professionalism for maintenance engineers”, the Board of Directors of AAFAME hereby establishes the requirement that the ratio of individual engineer members to vendor company members within AAFAME is no less than 60 – 40.

We do this for two reasons:

  1. Since AAFAME exists for the primary mission as above, the AAFAME Board of Directors desires that the majority of AAFAME membership be engineers.
  2. Experience has conclusively proven that vendor participation is the key to success with AAFAME.

Whenever the ratio is reached, vendors desiring membership shall be placed on a waiting list.  The order of placement on the waiting list is the date that AAFAME receives $200 payment for dues amount.  When the ratio allows, the company next eligible to move from the waiting list to membership will be notified and we will activate membership and notify member by email.

While on the waiting list, the vendor company may participate in AAFAME activities as follows:

a. Only one person from the company may attend monthly luncheons and will pay non-member rate

b. The company may have teams in the annual Chili Slam event at the same cost as members

c. The company may have a table in the annual Expo, but only if tables are still available two weeks prior to the event.

d. May sponsor the Chili Slam at a premium rate two weeks after the initial announcement is sent to active vendors

e. Be included in the "Waiting List” section of the annual printed Membership Directory.  Will not be included in online vendor services directory at the website.

fVendors can attend committee meetings.

Further, current vendor members are required to meet three of the following six criteria to be eligible to renew membership for the following year (will be mandated only if there is a waiting list):

A.      Company be represented at least 50% of AAFAME annual Monthly Luncheon.

B.      Have a table at the annual Expo.

C.      Volunteer ten hours on AAFAME committees or projects.

D.      Sponsor a cumulative $350 financial support (other than dues) of AAFAME activities (includes directory, luncheons. newsletters, etc)

E.     Conduct a training class or luncheon presentation.

F.       Recruit one new engineer member to AAFAME.

Please note that not all of the criteria involve the expenditure of funds.  The important key is participation.

Prior to sending renewal dues statements, AAFAME staff will examine the participation status of current vendor members, and report vendor members not in compliance to the Board of Directors.

Questions or comments regarding this policy may be directed to the Board of Directors of AAFAME.
