Member Profile: Scott Malone, Aquila Management Services

Wednesday, August 8, 2018

Name: Scott Malone

Current Career: Lead Engineer at UFCU with Aquila Management Services

Current Position in AAFAME: Chair of the Training Committee and serves on the Programs Committee

Past Jobs: Transwestern at West Tech 360, St. David’s Medical Center for 7 years, and AISD for 14 years

Professional Aspirations: To ultimately be in a Facility Director position

What do you want to do when you grow up: “I’m not growing up!  If I do grow up, I will have to get suits and ties!  I can be like Brett Weiss, suddenly he’s a “snazzy” dresser.”

What was one of the most unusual experiences that happened as a building engineer? When I was working at St. David’s Medical Center we lost a 6-inch water main in the ceiling and it flooded the whole 1st floor.  It took 2 ½ years to clean up!

Five Minutes of Fame: My 5 minutes of fame was when I won a bass fishing tournament and won a $50,000 fishing boat.  The weigh in came out to be 47 pounds of fish (10 fish around a 4-5-pound average)

Hobbies: RVing with my wife.  We have been all the way from Nashville to South Carolina.  Our most enjoyable RV adventure was spending a week and a half in Davis Mountains with no cell phone service.

Pet Peeves: I have no patience for stupidity; lack of judgement.

If you could do it all over again what would you change: I wouldn’t change a thing.  I have made some serious mistakes in my life, but they all turned me in to who I am today.

If money and time were no object, how would you spend your days: Laying on a beach.  When I asked Scott if he had a certain beach in mind he said “Yeah!  The one next to the water!”.

Favorite Quote, Saying or Song: When I was a kid, my dad would say “Are you mad?  You can get glad in the same pants you got mad in.

Your favorite thing about AAFAME: My favorite thing about AAFAME is they force me outside of my comfort zone and I need that, or I won’t get out there.
